Behind the Scenes
It all started with an idea while Maitha was walking at dawn along River Thames in Oxford.
She was finding it hard to connect with other Emirati engineers and was thinking of a method to enable this interaction through a cohesive network. She felt responsible for giving back to her community.
From then, the Emirati WiE Network evolved into an initiative.
The goal is simple...to create a non-profit organization that connects all Emirati women, professionals and students, across all engineering disciplines and contribute to the society.
When designing the Emirati WiE Network logo, Maitha was inspired by the UAE logo. The solid seven lines represent the seven Emirates, and the dotted top and bottom lines represent networking among Emirati engineers across the Emirates. The Emirati WiE Network logo embodies the engineering field as agile, strong, creative, and innovative.
Emirati WiE Network offers online and physical platforms for its members to interact with women engineers across the UAE, whether they are working in the industry as professionals or studying at universities inside and outside the UAE.
